About the region
The Guji region receives heavy rainfall and is marked by steep mountainous terrain . Perfect conditions to support the wide range of coffees are found here. Only recently have Guji coffee beans been distinguished from the neighboring production areas of Sidamo and Yirgachefe. Due to their very good quality and unique profiles , they are quickly gaining worldwide recognition .
Agricultural methods in Guji remain largely traditional . Farmers in Guji generally interplant their coffee plants with other food crops. This method is common among smallholder farmers as it maximizes land use and provides food for their respective families. Most farms are also traditional and organic by default.
