Taramesa Cooperative is located in Shebedino district in the Sidama region, approximately 300 km south of Addis Ababa. The cooperative has 2,330 members, however they only cultivate 0.5 hectares on average. The cooperative is part of Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union. Cultivated at more than 1,800 m , this coffee is called “ natural” because immediately after picking, the cherries are spread out on drying beds for 22 days. Taramesa has drying “beds”, as well as a small warehouse to store the coffee which is ready to be sent to Addis Ababa for final processing. The cooperative shares a cherry shelling unit with the neighboring Telamo cooperative.
